BRNO ZKW 465 and CZ 527

Are they identical?

point being could a .223 be built on a ZKW 465?

Re: BRNO ZKW 465 and CZ 527

They are not identical. The Czechs were clever when they re-tooled to make the CZ527 (actually the Fox series) and did not completely re-design the action. They simply shortened the rear bridge by .5 inch and opened the mag well up the same amount allowing the .222 to fit and later the .223. The bolts are actually the same length, the mag well opening and the magazines are not the same length. It would require the same steps to build a .223 on a ZKW - it would be cheaper to find a Fox or 527. The Germans did not take the same approach when Krico brought out their copy of the ZKW 465. They actually stretched the action out the .5 inch and left the front and rear bridges the original length. Kricos are not easy to find and their bolts are not an exact copy of the ZKW and not quite as good in my opinion design wise.

Hope this info is helpful.

No, sorry the BRNO ZKW 465 is a shorter in action & magazine, the BRNO Fox is very similar to the CZ 527 & the same in the action as far as I know !

There was a rare ZKW 465 clone by Anschutz in .222 Rem as I remember & that action was a little longer

We were posting at the same time I see & Krico were the guys that made that longer 465, that's the one.
