I have never owned a browning rifle. This one looks useful but there suggested price is exorbitant.

Yeah I'd have to agree with Wayne.

Nice $900 rifles with a $2100 price tag to cater to the people that want to say they own something that costs $2100.
(but ignore the fact that it's worth about $900)

This one cost a little more then half and is a better action, as good or better a trigger, better safety and better extractor.

Way over priced imho.
I have an A-3 walnut stocked and it's a very accurate rifle, 26" in .300 Win. Mag. I got on the 1,000 meter buffalo with my second shot. I held for a 1,000yard shot and hit just under his chest. Added a couple more moa and clang with a WW factory 180gr. load!
There is nothing wrong with browning barrels, I expect, - but - $2,000 bucks - no way!

Re: Browning-x-bolt-pro-long-range--new

Way over priced but a good rifle. I'd take a Browning over the Win any day. The new M70 have a stiff bolt that catches on locking the bolt handle down. Just a slight catch. Trigger probably very close to each other out of the box. Mauser extractor is way over rated. Had as many failings with them as any other type, more so than any Rem I have used. The Mauser is a good extractor but not as good as all the hype would have you believe. My personal experience.

Which would I buy, at the price difference, the Win 70.

Over here that Browning will cost north of AUD3000. If I buy a Stainless X-Bolt about $1200, ceracote all the bits and pieces $650 to $750. Carbon fibre stock, I would suggest no change out of $800 so total price AUD2750. The M70 extreme weather cost a bit more than AUD1200 like $700 to $800 more so to do all that to the Win will see north of AUD3600. Just to put things in perspective for down under.

A base grade M70 is AUD1600 so still at least $400 up on a base grade Browning.
