G'Day Fella's, Thank you for sharing Ripp, always a good read (about 98's). Doh! Homer |

Thank you, Ripp for sharing the AR Article. But I see to relevant inaccuracies: 1- "The bolt handle root serves as a safety lug in the case of primary lug failure": The bolt handle root is not the safety lug. This is a third lug, independent of the bold handle. 2- "The Model 1895—better known as the Chilean Mauser—was the first to be chambered in the 7x57 mm Mauser cartridge": The first rifle chambered for the, then, new 7 mm Mauser cartridge was the experimental 1892 Spanish Mauser, with the in-line, not staggered, magazine, quickly followed by the final version of the Spanish Mauser, the 1893, with the staggered magazine, also in 7 mm Mauser, rifle wich made famous this cartridge. good point while the M 98 is the final version and the best of all worlds the older mauser rifles are also very charming |

Quote: I actually prefer the pre ‘98 Mausers, they’re more graceful looking to my eye with the small ring and bolt shroud. |
