What is the most powerful, big bore round you could safely put in a No.4 SMLE, wilcat or standard....375 JDJ,9.3X65R, any ideas ? Roger |

G'Day Fella's, Yumastepside, the highest (Factory) pressure cartridge on a No 4, that I know of and is fairly common, is the .308Win/7.62 NATO. The largest (Big Bore) that I have heard of, is the .444 Marlin. It is not common but not unheard of, here in Australia. Looking forward to other, more knowledgeable persons posts! You could always do a 400 Lee Speed (slightly shortened 405 Win) like I did on a long Lee action. |

.........I've got 80 once fired winchester 7.62x54r cases......I'm thinking, blow them out a bit straighter in the body,move the neck forward to about the same as a 303 and kick them out to 9.5 (.375 )......a bit of work but I love playing with these things, comes from being a machinist I 'spose......
