H. Dumoulin full-stock carbine in .358 Win.

Newly acquired H. Dumoulin full-stock carbine in .358 Win.
I don't know how old the rifle is, except that it is post-1955 and barely used.
The only other H. Dumoulin rifle with which I have any experience was a lightweight half stock rifle in .375 H+H that I owned about ten years ago. It kicked, but was accurate.

How does that trigger compare with that of a Model 70 Winchester? There seems to be a distinct family resemblance.

Sure does to me, too, xausa. It's been 30 years since I had the stock off my Palma rifle and adjusted the trigger to 1 kilo (which has not changed to this day) so my memory of it is a wee bit fuzz.

Does anyone know how to date this rifle? It is obviously post-1955 (the year the .358 Win. was introduced) but I can't do better than that. I've looked over all the various proof marks and stampings on the rifle and compared it to information on the internet, but so far have come up with nothing.

Trigger safety looks like that from a Browning FN action in the Safari/Medallion/Olympic series - good trigger but not as adjustable as that on the old Model 70 Winchester series.

This trigger is adjustable for engagement. I thought the Winchester was only adjustable for weight and overtravel.
The way I set it up, it breaks very cleanly at around 4 lb. Perfect for me.
From what I can understand from the various stamped markings, the rifle was made between 1955 and 1965.

The action is a Mauser Supreme and the trigger is identical to the Browning Hi-power rifles. This action was made from 1959 to 1974. Based on the coloring of the trigger parts yours is pre 1967.
Great rifle with arguably the best 98 action ever made.

Good calibre choice for a carbine. I never see the point of chambering large capacity cartridges in shorter barrel rifles.

Excellent find and in a nice, but underrated calibre. Wish I could come across this exact rifle.
Shoot a moose/bear or two for me with her when you get a chance.

You are a lucky person or a very good at finding great rifles. Take it hunting like it deserves and the 358 is a great round.
