CZ Ring Options

Hello Folks
I have just put a new (made in 1991 but never used) CZ 537 (which looks as if it is some sort of transition model between the 602 and the 550) in 7x64 into the cabinet. It’s my first CZ and it’s a really nice rifle, if it shoots half as good as it looks it’ll be an absolute keeper.
Anyhow it needs rings, I know of Talley, Warne, Millet and Alaska Arms (as well as the CZ made ones) that fit the 19mm dovetail. Are there any others and which are the nicest – I like rounded and “not chunky” (I think the Warne’s look a bit chunky).

Seems to me, I put Leupold rings on my last BRNO600 - but - they might have been CZ rings???? Worked fine.

The Talley's are very nice. I had a set for a 527 that I used to have, only issue was they only had one size and the bolt handle didn't clear the scopes eyepiece.

Machining outfit in the States advertizes on saubier.com that makes and sells a stainless 527 bolt HANDLE replacement that will clear the Talley's- seems to me, it's around $60.00.

Thanks for the information, I sold the 527 a few years ago though. It's good to know if I ever get another one though.

G'Day Fella's,
Tentman, what I do for additional ring security with parallel dovetails on centrefire rifles, is to drill and tap (one or more blind holes) the rear face of both rings just up from their bottom and place an appropriate sized screw(s) with a large diameter head, in there!
What your trying to achieve here is to use the under hanging screw head, to engage with the rear face of both the Receiver Ring and Receiver Bridge dovetails!
You will need to use some caution with this, so as to not interfere with the dovetail clamping screw of the rings! I usually get the job done with either 4 or 5mm (3/16") diameter, high tensile "Button Head" hex drive screws. The button head have a larger diameter head than most standard screw heads, so are almost made for this task!!!
There are more unobservable and also more drastic ways of achieving this security but the above does not require any modifications to the firearm itself.

Millet bases & rings for the CZ 527's have protrusions to prevent the base form sliding moving forward. I use them on both of my CZ 527's. The Millet bases are adjustable for windage as well.

I've had a lot of luck with Millet too, used them on my old BSA Royal for many years of hunting in tough conditions - I particularly like their more contoured look.
Anyhow a kind soul sent me a set of Warnes and they fit well and should be functional enough.
