This is on rifles to be used for medium and big game. My 30-06 has a tapered post and fine cross hair on a Weaver 4x scope. This reticle allows very accurate shooting. My 308 lever action has a pointed post and cross bars. Good for quick shooting. This scope was meant for my 375 (a Leupold 1 3/4 - 6 x ) but being the compact model did not fit on a Mauser action. My 375 wears a Leupold extended tube 1 3/4 - 6 x with a custom heavy pointed post and cross bar reticle. The reticle is heavier than I prefer but should be OK on a 375. On my small game rifles - 22, 22 Mag and .222 they all have duplex reticles which are excellent for fine accurate shooting. I would like to try the (8) above - illuminated dot with post and bars. But would want to ensure it also works well without the illuminated dot. This one is available on a Swarovski 1.1-4x. Would be excellent on a dangerous game rifle I think. My preference is for the heavy duty duplex. I also like an illuminated cross hair just at the center for leopard hunting. I would design a scope with a long eye relief and mount the scope in a forward (ahead of the chamber) position. This "scout position" prevents scope cuts, allows a more "both eyes open" sighting picture, and because they are typically of lower power have a greater field of vision: helpful when hunting dangerous game. There are very few scopes manufactured this way. I for one would welcome more selection. If a Zeiss or Swarovoski scope would allow for more eye relief, they would be my favorites. Leopold quit manufacturing the LPS 1.5X6X42 recently and broke my heart. This, I feel is an excelant big bore rifle scope. What is the neccessity of mounting a scope so close to your eye when you chamber a shell in the old .416 Rigby. Sounds pretty crazy to me. WR |

On my DG rifles, I use the heavy duplex, while all my other hunting rifles have the standard duplex. |

German #1 and #4. I prefer the #1, as itīs easier to sight in than the #4. My scopes are Swarovski 6x42, Zeiss 4x32 and Nickel 1-4x20. Fritz |

I use a fine crosshair, #1, for benchrest and varmint work, and Duplex, #3, for most hunting, and the heavy Duplex, #4, for any gun that will be use in heavy cover or close-up work, such as my .375H&H or my Marlin 336 .30/30. Lynn |
