.318WR load data & bertram brass case life

Could anyone post some loaddata for 250grs. bullets for the .318WR?
How many reloads could I expect with Bertram brass in .318WR if I full lenght size the brass every time?
Further I have seen some cases called Quality Brass. How does these compare to Bertram in terms of quality?
I hope some .318WR reloaders can help me out here.

I believe most reloaders make them out of .30-06 cases.
Much cheaper if you're not in Australia, and you don't have to worry so much about case-life.
All you need is a tapered expander-ball in your .318 sizing die, although most expanders could easily be ground to work fine.
Trim as necessary.
Also, why full-length resize? Just resize them to fit your chamber, and case-life is a non-issue.

Full length resize in any gun cuts case life.
IF you can, try neck size only.
Use 30.06 brass if you can, just as good, Easily available.
IF you use 30.06 brass, AND you also own a 30.06, just make sure you keep the brass / ammo separate AND / OR use some tool (engraving tool, file) to scrape across the 30.06 on the bottom of the brass.
What powder are you using ? no point in me putting up data if you don't have ADI Powder.

I didnt think neck sizing would be the best way to go, as I am gonna feed them in a vintage WR double rifle and presumed that would be harder on the ejectors.
As I am gonna reload these cartridges to a friend so I thought it would be easyer if I used brass with correct headstamps. If making the the cases out of 30-06 where the way to go, could i then just buy a "RCBS Form Die 318 Westley Richards from 30-06 Springfield" and a .318WR seater die?
As for powders I am confined with Vithavouri N-150 & N-160 and Norma powders.

Can't help with Vithavouri or Norma powders.
Loads aren't hugely different from 30.06 with 220gn bullet
so talk to people who know alot about reloading, start low and work up a few.
What bullet are you using ?
The 240gn Woodleigh ?

Well unless someone has some actual load data for the 318wr and the powders you are using, I would think you might have to extrapolate them from some 30.06 loads.

Or better yet ... 338/06 or 35Whelen loads. The 35Whelen in particular would be a lower pressure cartridge (I'm assuming) in the reloading manuals thanks to the old Springfield's etc... floating about. The start loads for the 35Whelen may be a good place to start ... match the SD of the 318WR's projectile to the closet 35cal pill for the 35Whelen and use that projectile weights start loads. Does that make sense?

These are the only loads I've tested, for what it's worth. It's been a few years, so I'm not sure how many rounds per load this covered:
CCI 200, Remington 35W case
Woodleigh 250gn, no crimp, 26" barrels
52 gn IMR 4831 3.36 OAL 2059
53 gn IMR 4831 3.36 OAL 2100
54 gn IMR 4831 3.36 OAL 2153
56 gn IMR 4831 3.30 OAL 2313
To start I gathered 9-10 loading manuals and listed each of their 2300 to 2400 fps 250gn 338-06 and 35 Whelen loads, keeping in mind the lower pressure limit of the 318 vs 30-06 and that the Brits liked to use 28-30" barrels for their quoted numbers. Based on that, and kynoch's "blue sky", I think +-2300 is probably more realistic in 26" barrels.

I haven't had good luck with Bertram brass (I've used .33 WCF, .35 WCF, .38-72 WCF, and .50-110 WCF but never .318 WR) and I would expect Quality Cartridge to have better stuff. The Bertram was very bad about splitting at the neck (.50 EX excluded) even on first firings, and it seemed to be some of the thinnest brass I've ever used.

I can't find anyone that has any Woodleighs in stock. Does anyone know of a supply? I feel a need to shoot my new to me .318 WR takedown.

How is your german and conversion from metric to imperial units? Have a look at the Jagen Weltweit site - German hunting magazine. On the menu on the left click on ausrustung and then on the next screen go to waffen and you'll see a link to an article on reloading the 318. Go through to the end and there are further links to load and bullet data. Kemira powders are Vihtavouri and the RWS powders are I think the same as Norma ...

There are online translators which do pretty good. I've used one then sent the document off to a friend who speaks both languages to clean up grammar etc.
Does anyone have a copy of Ken Waters "Pet Loads" I understant there is 318 WR data there.
