275 Rigby

I have a friend that wants to build a .275 Rigby (7x57)

He wants to use a pre 64 Winchester action. I have told him I will kick his dog and never borrow his boat again if he puts .275 Rigby on a Winchester and an American traditional stock. (he also wants a barrel band swivel)

Am I being judgemental?

Hell No

Tell him to get some class about himor we'll lump him in with all the other drongo's who think a Plastic Fantastic Stevens in .223 is a good gun

Mick

I think you need to slap him around a bit and
make him wake up.

Re: 275 Rigby

Winchester did in fact offer the pre 64 Model 70 in 7x57 in those days.
Maybe he should just look for one of those.
Anyway, he could use a 1909 Mauser action which would likely be cheaper as well.

Re: 275 Rigby

he can build a 7x57 on a win action, but it is against the law to call it a 275.rigby!!!!

Re: 275 Rigby

I agree with all but one so far. A 275 Rigby or 275 H.V. as we marked ours where all on small ring 98's. The Kar is nice, I like them better than a Mexican 98. While the M-70 is a wonderful action it always seemed so big for anything much smaller than a H&H.

HA! I've been wanting to build a 7x57R on a Lee action. So of course, now I'll have to call it a .275 Rigby Rimmed! Imagine, if you will: a streamlined No.4 MkI with .275 Rigby Rimmed engraved on the barrel, firing ammunition marked .444 Marlin. Heh, heh, heh. How many laws does that break?
