I'm shopping for a nice leather carrying sling to use with a Lee Speed rifle on an upcoming hunt. Does anyone have an opinion on these slings: Murray Custom Leather: http://www.murraycustomleather.com/slings.htm Vero Vellini: http://gunslingsdirect.com/vv-leather.html In addition to advice on quality and function, I'm curious about the latigo ties on the Murray slings...has anyone used them? Thanks |

I just put a TRADER KEITH sling on my M77 .458 and like it very much. It is wide cotton canvas type constuction with leather ends and bridle keepers for 1" swivels. It has rubberized strips woven into the material to keep it from sliding around. I recommend it especially for double rifles and heavy bolt action guns. Most fixed sling attachment points are for 1" slings so if your rifle has those this sling is compatible. NECG has a nice one too. |

I originally looked at Murray and the V17231 also, but choose to use someone who made a belt and sheath for a custom knife of mine. I used a leathersmith from Hope, AR named Kenny Rowe. he does perfect work in his shop with his son. I recently used him to make a special sling for my new custom rifle that fits the extra length of pull [15 inch]and the fact that the front sling is on the 25 inch barrel. Just send his a picture of what you want and $50 later and a couple of weeks and you got a perfect sling. http://www.rowesleather.com/ |

This I believe is the correct sling and the way it is attached to a Lee Speed Al [image][/image] |
