Facebook, google, etc. time to use good WPN and all the addons one can find. I mean why shall phone companies, Brokers, creditcard companies, Amazon and others keep your records forever, or sell the information to other companies without your consent.. Disgusting.

If there were collection privacy laws and privacy laws in US, Europe etc. then it would change. Today, cars, phones, computers, creditcards, apps, transponders, IOT-devices, etc. all gathers personal or very private information and snitches home. Now when Apple says they will give people the choice to opt-out it will make a lot of companies nervous.

Re: Your data and privacy sold on internet.

I found the comparison between Apple/I phones and Android phones quite interesting as to hacking.
I run Bitdefender Anti-virus/firewall as well as a VPN on my phone.

Re: Your data and privacy sold on internet.

I found a lot of trouble using facebook when they forced me to accept their new look/platform. The browser would freeze continually and need restarting. Continually, all the time. I managed this by using firefox with fb and chrome for ne and other pages. Just dump the firefox and restart it as needed, multiple times in a session.

I found out what was the problem. My laptops security sw interacting with facebook is jamming the browser. So the securty sw is the problem? No, IMO. It is acting like it should and stopping intrusive sw, ie facebook.

Favebook tries to track ALL your browsing history.

As does google.

Re: Your data and privacy sold on internet.

Well, there is plenty of information about FB pixel trackers and fingerprint canvas so with googles all trackers. Ghostery browser, Brave and firefox with some addons and twekaing will be fairly good. Add Track me not add-on and Add-Nauseum so you can throw more spanners in the machinery.

Windows 10 also needs some tweaking. Best is to run a linux distibution.

Try to use TOR browser or Proton VPN.

I don't use FB, Instagram, linked-in at all.

Re: Your data and privacy sold on internet.

Re going to a so called "secure" website, ie a https rather than the usual old, when ne started, http, website, using an address change ie https will mean ALL the old links in a forums database will no longer work.

So if I made such a change when changing ISPs, and upgrading the forums software, which I should do now as soon as reasonably possible, any old link to the forums elsewhere and also in our own forums archive will no longer work. Fo sites that don't care about old threads and are "now" only forums, that probably wouldn't matter. Some "archive" ie delete any posts more than a few months old, or a year or two. ALL our old posts still exist.

What was said about a "hundred year old firearm" 20 years ago is still probably as relevant today. We don't need those new fangled brand new designed wheel rifles and cartridges every 2.37 years so the factories can sell the latest and keep sodapop marketers employed.

I will have to research exactly what the benefits of a https site is. As I userstand it having the security certificate means it is harder to hyjack a website address. ie so a user knows with more assurance, that the http dot com website if a https dot com is actually the site they think they are accessing. Not some other hyjacked website. ??? Will have to research.

Re: Your data and privacy sold on internet.

In the end, in the "new normal" globalst deep state fascist world, ANYTHING on the net will have a risk, in terms of tracking, identification, personal data accumulation, criminal risk, official govt criminal use, risk of google, apple, facebook, twitter, amazon stealing your data etc etc.

When it was revealed by Julian Assange, that the camera and microphone on your pc, smart phone, smart TV. home "internet" smart devices etc can be turned on remotely by surveillance "agencies" then anything is possible. Unless you use an old tv with disk or tape player, and snail mail only.

1984 has been here for many years.

Edward Snowdon has a number of videos on the surveillance machines of today.
