Mozilla vs. IE

Has anyone here tried the web browser named "Mozilla". I've heard it's safer than Microsofts IE.

Re: Mozilla vs. IE

Erik,

it is safer than I.E. but it is a lot slower. I use Avant Browser usually but that is just as full of holes as I.E. but at least has SOME protection. If you're not bothered about speed, Mozilla or Opera are better bets, with Mozilla Firefox latest version possibly the most secure.

There are plenty of free downloads like popup stopper (built into Avant Browser), Spybot Search and Destroy, Spywareblaster and Spywaredoctor that guard against annoying spyware and malware. The best protection though is a good firewall ( Windows XP firewall is crap ).

Zonealarm and Sygate both have free versions that are very effective and work with all the anti virus software I've used.

I use Mozilla, except that I cannot log into NE.com with Mozilla, so I use Netscape for NE.com.

Re: Mozilla vs. IE

I have been using Mozilla Firefox for about 6 months, don't find much difference in speed from IE and I very much like the additional features such as tabbed browsing. Never had any problems getting onto sites either and, unlike IE which I found froze up on a regular basis, since using firefox have never had to reboot to get the computer working again. It has a big thumbs up from me.
