You do find the coolest stuff Lancaster, I hope he has a .401 but it looks a little lighter ?

I had all the Winny autos in my hands a few days back & almost bought the .401 he had for sale .

Don't know, but interesting footage. Small wolves, normal black bear and normal grizzly.

for me it look like .351 too, have the 401 WSL and this is a heavy rifle

"The Imperial Russian government is recorded by Winchester as purchasing 500 Model 1907 rifles and 1.5 million rounds of .351SL ammunition through the J.P. Morgan Company in May 1916."

I know of Grizzly (Brown bear) in Russia have heard of black bear there.

I don't think I want to be the bloke with the pole waking up the bear.

As usual!!

Great stuff lanc!

Notice how the guys are "in uniform", too.

Maybe State foresters/game managers?

Re: russian hunting movies from the 1930s

In the last video, from 2:05 to 2:40 after killing the bear, it is on it's stomach, with his back up. Look at the head as well, not a black bear's head.
That hump puts in the grizzly class, no matter what they call it there, in my humble opinion, that is.
Sure looks right to me. I've seen a bunch of them.
