Pakistan Hunt--2019 -- Tajikistan/Turkey 2018

Friend of mine whom I hunt all over the globe with is currently in Pakistan hunting.. I was suppose to be with him on this--however "work" got in the way...

He sent these pics to me overnight..said all is well and having a good time..as the photos show..appears to be having better than average success ..

Certainly looks successful. I take it, his trip is about over now.

Great pix.

Ugly, dry, rocky, bleak country, too.

Now wonder why those folks would rather have Michigan and Alsace...

Very nice trophies for sure. Pity you missed out on going. It seems that any country ending in "stan" consists of mainly rock.

Matt.

NO, he is on a month long quest..more to hunt there and then he is headed back to Turkey. When we were there in Nov he didn't get his Bezoar Ibex..so he is headed back there for another go at that..

He was in Tajikizstan in Dec (last month) for Marco Polo--he got one the last day at 672 yards with the 300RUM..180gr Swift Scirocco's.. .

He was hoping for a larger one..but, sometimes hunts dont go the way you want..

Half his luck. Would love to have done those hunts. Very good Chamois he got. Must be know his rifle and cartridge as the 672yard shot is some shooting. Waaaaaaaaaay better than me. I think he chose the optimal round for that hunt.

Agreed--300RUM is an awesome long range round IMHO... have been using one since they first come out...can use high bc bullets and still have plenty of room to push velocity to whatever you desire..

Also agree on the hunt..one of those Ibex in Pakistan seems like a must do at some point..

Punjab Urial

The urial (Ovis orientalis vignei[2]), also known as the arkars or shapo, is a subspecies group of the wild sheep Ovis orientalis. Noticeable features are the reddish-brown long fur that fades during winter; males are characterized by a black ruff stretching from the neck to the chest and large horns. It is found in western central Asia. The other subspecies group of O. orientalis is the mouflon (Ovis orientalis orientalis group). The two groups have often been considered separate species.[3]
