Duck hunting, the future?

Field & Game Australia staff and members recently spent a morning on the wetlands showing members of the media the facts and truth around duck hunting and why we are so passionate about it.

Field & Game Australia was then pleased to see the The Age newspaper publish an article on Sunday which displayed a level of balance and impartiality on the topic of duck hunting. In an era where media often leans toward sensationalism, it is refreshing to see a publication present a well-rounded perspective on this emotive issue. The Age's commitment to fair reporting fosters a better understanding of the complexities surrounding duck hunting and its role in wildlife management.

As the 2023 Victorian duck season approaches its conclusion tomorrow evening, we would also like to express our gratitude to all those Field & Game Australia members that participated in the season and displayed their commitment to compliance and an ethical harvest. Hunters aim to adhere to responsible practices, for in this way we can ensure the sustainability of waterfowl populations, helped tremendously by our valuable work in the preservation of wetland ecosystems – not just for game birds but for all native flora and fauna.

Field & Game Australia recognises and is proud of the dedication of hunters who actively engage in ongoing education and training, emphasising safety, conservation, and respect for the environment.

As we reflect on the season and our efforts towards always striving to be better and even more responsible stewards of the land, it is also important to commend the hard work of staff on the ground and their authorised agents, GMA field officers and Victoria Police who sometimes work in difficult situations as they implement robust management strategies. We will continue to look for opportunities to improve, and by working together we can strike a balance between the preservation of our wetlands and the continuation of responsible hunting practices.

Lets hope all Victorian's get a better deal out of this next year.
Dictator Dan rarely sees logic in doing things - bet he still asks for a higher cost per permit for next year's season!

Re: Duck hunting, the future?

One positive thing that has happened recently is the big unions such as the CFMEU and ETU etc are sending open letters to the public, the media and the politicians letting them know what their members think of the idea of banning duck hunting, and any other outdoor pursuits. The majority of union members have some outdoor hobby which the Greens want to ban and the Unions have told Comrade Dan straight up a number of times that they will finish off the government if they proceed.

While I despise Daniel Andrews to his credit it was only because of him that we have even had a duck season in the last two years as every member of the rest of the Labor party wanted it banned, but he was obviously able to see that it would have been very bad for him and Labor.

Matt.
