Deer are a problem in residential areas, for sure. People in Grande Forks, B.C. have to put up 7' fences around their gardens. Not much traffic hazard, but they are still a major hazard in residential areas.

Re: Bambi in the A.C.T.

Boo hoo, poor anti foreign discriminators ... It appears we can have endless foreign humans but no foreign animals. I'd rather have sambar than muzzies ...

A lot of this is stirred up by the anti hunting, anti gun "Invasive Species Council", a lot of marxists trying to appear an "officia;" organisation. They want hunting banned, get rid of all the ferals and they think, no hunting, and no need for guns.

Quote:

The Invasive Species Council regards deer as Australia's worst emerging vertebrate pest problem, and chief executive Andrew Cox warns the animals could easily spread across the entire mainland.

Yep, as guessed it is them beating up the story again.

G'Day Fella's,

I agree NitroX, on all counts.

FYI, What i have been writing on my firearm license renewals, for the last 30+ years, is " ........ for Hunting, Locally, Interstate and Internationally". It may not help, but I try to Future Plan, if you know what I mean.

We put up higher fences around our garden here as well..yet we are only 2 miles out of the city.. not that it really matters.. deer (Mule) are all over in town, mtns, suburbs, etc... many evenings while having dinner they will come walking past our home in the back ..makes for great conversations and excitement for the little ones..

G'Day Fella's,

Apart from running into them on the road, I agree, everything else about having Deer wandering about the place, is Great!

Re: Bambi in the A.C.T.

Deer as a foreign non native species must be exterminated per the marxists.

Muzzies as a human invasive species must be encouraged as much as possible per the marxists.

The Invasive Species Council is just another marxist front organisation pretending to be something it is not.

Our wildlife authorities also hate anything introduced.

Deer were originally introduced by the colonial Acclimatisation Societies and also wealthy landowners as a source of game for hunting, meat in the deer park, and for their beauty.

I love seeing wild deer in the field.
