Young deer.

I walked over from home in the dark the other morn as I knew the deer were feeding in the paddock,I actually counted 13 in the full moonlight a couple of weeks ago.
Very early AM pics,ISO cranked to 6400 belies the actual light,not long after they were in the bush.The two far bigger mature boys left in the dark before I could ID them,this is where the vastly superior optics of the top end binos are so valuable (swarovski in my case)

Hi Gryphon,
Nice to see the future is secure but having deer 'Across the Road' is something an old guy like me can only ponder. Anymore of those lovely parrots around your home this year ??

Also, I like the way that some Australian Sambar, have evolved into now having an X aiming point on them, just in the right spot! Very considerate of them and Mr Darwin, would be very happy I'm sure.

Ha ha its a specialty of the area mate hence those marked ones are kept!

Gryphon, it kinda reminds me of the Gary Larson cartoon.
One deer turns to his mate with a Bull's Eye mark on his chest and says, "Bummer of a birth mark Hal"!

H I have a GL book here and it includes that very cartoon.He`s very good that bloke.
Here is another photo for the poorly sighted.
Its sort of anywhere in the box with a good calibre, of course we really know there are plenty of spots outside the box too ha ha.
But I can say a 30 cal 180 of good construction will do the job.
If people cant hit that box with an off the shoulder shot at 100-200 they need to practice a lot more.

If they can't hit that box at 100 offhand they need to find a new hobby ..

Great photos.
The lovely parrot photos and the hand holding the grain container give the game away a bit.
Back in September I had a very beautiful parrot/bird on my back fence of the house when I was out by the sheds. We get a lot of birds here, but this one was new to me and very beautifully coloured. Of course going into the house to grab the camera, meant it was gone well and truly by the time I was out again ... no idea of the species it was, but it was a different one.
I would love to build a collection of photos of our natives here. Gryphon's photos make it look easier than it is. Of course it is easier if one actually carries the camera around in hand for chance shots more.
