My416 When "speed loading" for my Ruger No1's I used this technique. After the shot as I came down from the recoil I lowered the lever ejecting the spent case. I also lowered the rifle slightly so I could observe the animal I had shot and the actions of any others that might have been with him. With my trigger finger pulling hand I would remove one round from the buttstock shell carrier and insert it into the chamber, and close the lever as I raised the rifle back up to my face. The rifle is slightly lowered leaving the buttstock in the shoulder pocket. I lay the round in the loading tray and push it into the chamber with my finger. By pushing it all the way into the chamber with your finger you will not attempt to close the action before the round is fully seated. Both of my No1's were scoped, so this technique will work with scoped or unscoped rifles. |
