I have a 'full blooded' (i.e. built and delivered by Martini and Hagan) in 300 H&H. The Hagan dropblock action is, IMHO, the absolute top of the line in single shot rifles. The metal and wood to metal fit and finish on mine, to say nothing of a simply incredible piece of wood, is what one would expect from the finest in custom rifles. Given their prices, and their relatively short wait compared to other custom builders, if you want a single shot, go Martini and Hagan. My only hesitation as to the 470 Morris has at his site would be as to potential recoil. Just a tad over 8 pounds would make for a VERY lively wack from a 470. My 470 DR weighs a tad over 10. I find it easy to shot, but chop off two pounds and it might dent the shoulder a tad. If this rifle was a pound or so heavier, I'd be very tempted. Dave |
