Hi all. Recently I acquired a German Cape Gun with A.SCHOPFER on the rib. It has a top lever with hammers. Sidelock. The rear sight is a single leaf. The front a bead. The left barrel is Damascus and is 16 gauge. The right says 10.7 on the underneath. A black powder cartridge I'm assuming. I can't find anything out about the gunmaker and nothing about the 10.7 Rimmed calibre. A gunsmith friend did a chamber cast but there are no matches to anything in Barnes. I don't have my Vernier calipers with me to write down the exact dimensions. Sorry. From a metal rule the chamber is almost 2.5" long. About 1.5" to the shoulder with about a 7/16" rim diameter. A Cartridge collecter friend contacted a mate in Germany for help but he couldn't help either. Can anybody help with this curious but beautiful gun? Cheers, Doubleup. Ps. I will try and add photos when I grapple with the technology to do so later. |
