I'm thinking a leather/knit combination band that would be worn midway up the off hand arm... but the angles would be all wrong for quick extraction.... Holmes has a great idea, except for the fact that most (all) of us aren't quite as at peace with our inner redneck to hunt africa in overalls! :D:D (hey, my wife would be up for it anyday... me on the other hand..... not likely!) the other thing I'd thought of is just a modified "change pocket" in your shooting britches... basically sew one or two partitions (depending on your girth and therefore the size of the pocket) and just house the rounds nose-down. I line up 6 20ga. shells accross the top of my trigger-hand jeans pocket when I shoot trap and they are way cake to grab (the rim holds them up so no fishing is necessary)... it works especially well when you are shooting doubles and can grab two shells in one fell swipe... that's been a very effective method for me... although, on a #1, without the action break, the angles are a little different, but I know that without really working at it I can reload both barrels of the Ithica (o/u) in under 2 seconds... with only one round and a quicker "open" stroke, 1 second flat should be do-able. |
