I've used my 9.3x74R double on game here and in Africa. My rifle was regulated for the Norma 285 Oryx factory round. I didn't have time to work up any other loads for it before this last hunt in Africa and the fall hunting seasons here. The 9.3x74R loaded with the Oryx bullets performed flawlessly on a very nice Chobe bush buck at 165 yards from my scoped double. And likewise on 2 white tail deer as fast as I could pull the second trigger here this fall. Last deer season I shot 3 white tails with the 9.3x74R. Lined a couple of does up and got both with one shot. The other was a fairly long shot for our area, but the 9.3 handled it well (about 195 yards). I'm working up a 286 North Fork load for the 9.3x74R in my single shot Hubertus and my 9.3x64 bolt gun. From all reports, the North Forks should be a great round in both calibers. I love the 9.3 caliber rifles. If I didn't have the 9.3x74R barrel for my Hubertus single shot, I'd buy the Ruger #1 in this caliber as soon as it was avaialble. |
