IMHO, those who suggest down loading the 375 H&H for better results should be changing up to a better bullet! The 9.3 x 74 is a very practical single-shot rifle chambering because it is long and slender, and can be made up into a very slim, light stalking rifle. The chamber walls can retain plenty of meat, putting the weight in the right place for good balance and sweet handling. Not sure about the Ruger No.1, a little chunky for my liking, but a Scheiring top-lever single which Vic P_ had made for him in this calibre a few years ago was absolutely marvellous! If I lived in the US and hunted mainly North American game, there would be one in my gunsafe for sure! (prob'ly a double, though!) |
