I have always found the Ruger No1 to be a very attractive and well proportioned rifle. I find the 357Mag a great little round for plinking and small game (up to the size of roo and goats) so have decided to combine the two and have made a Rook rifle (for want of a better term) I am planning on making a scaled down version of the tropical, with express sights, barrel band, steel buttplate, nice Turkish or similar walnut etc. I won't be scoping it. I am unfamiliar with the No1 action and am wanting to know a couple of things. Is the action/extraction system suitable for small rimmed cases like the 357mag? Also does the action come in various sizes (I don't recall that it does) and if so what size is best suited to 357mag? Thanks for any advise, comments etc. |
