This will be the Hagn. Finally! I am going to have them build it, lock, stock and barrel... Small action, swamped octagonal barrel with integral quarter rib and front sight ramp. I'll try to meet with them at the ACGG show to size up for the timber. I really thought I had the cartridge pinned down, but am coming across so many conflicting reports of velocity and load data for it, I may abandon the 7x75 Vom Hofe SE for something else. Load and ballistic data is all over the place from the few sources I can find. Not consistent even on case capacity. Even still, with the x75R case being almost 3" long, to get the performance from it, it does require a long barrel. The anchor of this entire project is using the small action. Balance and handling qualities are much more important to me than any given cartridge. So, if one cartridge requires an unbalanced rifle or degrades handling qualities of the rifle, I will have to choose something else. I would like to stay in the 7mm to 30 caliber range though. The engraving is something that has been an afterthought in nearly a decade of planning. I do believe the rifle deserves it, though. I do have SDH's book and have referenced it many times over this process. I do not know Jim White, do you have some contact info you could PM me? Any additional thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks |
