Bill, The Heeren is a falling block single shot. The action is unique. It works by unlatching the trigger guard at its front (you can see the latch inside the trigger guard at the front. The entire trigger guard and trigger assembly then hinges back toward the shooter on a hinge pin behind the trigger guard. You can see the hinge pin through the back of the receiver near the bottom, just ahead of the pistol grip. It has a retaining screw with a crescent cutout just to its front. As the trigger guard hinges down, the block is pulled downward by its linkage. To fire the rifle it is first loaded by cycling the action as described, then the shooter pushes forward on the lever behind the trigger until it catches. This cocks the striker and sets the trigger. The front trigger then fires the rifle. It's an interesting system, to say the least. Curl |
