I really like the #1 and would have no problems taking on ANY game with it/single shot; WITH the right round. If your going after DG then use a round that plants them with one shot. Such as a 458 Lott, 450 NE #2 or possibly the 458 Win Mag hotly loaded. The #1's are so friggin strong they can take it. I did not mention the other DG rounds because they are price prohibitive in the #1. I would choose a 45-70 in a lever or double gun for DG, but not a single shot.

The only issue IMO is they are light. I used to shoot a #3 in 45-70 that my father had, which he hand loaded with ass thumping loads. I was only 110lb and 14 years old and it really HURT to shoot. Now 28 years later I think I can manage it.
