I finally had time to give the rifle a more detailed examination. The engraving is decently sharp despite the receiver and all other ironwork (except the inside of the fore end iron) being overly cleaned to a bright silver. The damascus barrel was also cleaned. For brass, it does have tight chambers that won't accept one of my 360EX 2.25" cases, so I'll see about sizing one of those down. The rim cutout of the chamber is not overly deep and looks right for both Bertram 360 brass and some older RWS 9.3x72r brass. I put the rifle on our scale and was not surprised to see it was slightly under 5 lbs. It holds decently but I suspect it will be problematic in any sort of cross breeze. So far I've not had a vintage gun re-colored. I might break with that if this one shoots well. The lack of finish looks wrong. Not at all like honest wear. I'm less than thrilled with Amoskeag's photos and disappointed in myself for not asking for more to be sent to me. I know better. |
