I have tried to find out as much as I can about both rifles with little luck. The other rifle had a broken stock so we know why it saw such little use. All research on GDP mentions he was an avid big game hunter, yet I can find no pictures of him afield or with a rifle. Many questions, few answers. The one question I can answer is weight, it weighs 8 & 1/2 lbs.

I now own Huvius’s rifle. Holland has information on my rifle, but doesn’t have a record on Bouldersmith’s rifle. Wal Winfer’s book shows my rifle was delivered to Pratt in 1906. Winfer shows George D. Pratt bought Bouldersmith’s rifle with no date listed. The serial numbers do not line up with a timeline for dates. Holland can’t find a cross reference from my gun to Bouldersmith’s. We don’t know how Winfer obtained the purchaser of Bouldersmith’s gun.

Other than the terribly cracked stock on my gun, neither gun looks used much.

Very interesting.

Can you tell what the cause of the stock damage was? Accident of some sort or cracking due to shooting? Is it repaired now?
