I'd figured that the .308 firing 150 gr and the .303 firing 150 gr came within 150 fps of each other and wouldn't generate particularly different chamber pressures or bolt thrust in so doing.

There are no military marks. It's an old sporter. If the bore cleans up I may leave it as is, but I want a scoped single shot for hunting.
