If you look at the action shape of the rifle in the old Selous photo, it is not a Gibbs – Farquharson as often mistaken for. In fact it is a Holland & Holland 1894 Holland – Woodward patent action. Truesdell lists Selous with three such single shot H&H rifles, a .256, a .303 and a .375 NE.
