An improoved “Heeren” rifle by the Ern family

Max Ern of Leverkusen, Germany and his family are making some of the finest hunting rifles on the planet

A new example of the Ern family gunmaking art: A 2-barrel take down rifle on Ern’s own improved Heeren type action in 8x68S and 7x65R, interchangeable. All done inhouse by the Ern family. Design, machining, barrel rifling, case hardening , stocking and so on by Max Ern Sr. and Max Ern Jr., engraving by Evelyn Ern. The Erns redesigned the basic Heeren action by slightly beefing it up to take high pressure loads up to .338 Lapua Magnum, including nearly all the big British NE cartridges. The shape was altered slightly to allow for a decent pistol grip stock. The lockwork is redesigned too to go on full cock on closing, obviating the need to “set” the trigger for each shot. Instead of the set trigger feature, it is a crisp single stage trigger now. The quarter ribs are the bases for Ern’s proprietary claw mounts.
