Been looking for info on the merits or otherwise of the Ruger No 1 action vs the No 3. A local dealer has a No 3 in .22 hornet at a very good price and I'm wondering whether there is anything particularly to look out for? From what I've been able to find out, the No 3 is a simplified action, carbine version of the No 1 and was chambered for lighter calibres. I also know of a custom Martini Cadet based .22 hornet at an even better price. Seeing as the No 3 is discontinued, is the Ruger No 1 just better all round, very strong albeit a bit of overkill in such a light calibre? What would you go for, the Martini or the Ruger No 1 or 3?
