Then maroon Scotch Brite will have to go on my shopping list. I expect it will help.

I ran my bore scope through the barrels.....shotgun bores look new, as would be expected. Rifle barrel looks dismal through the scope. With the naked eye the lands look strong with pitting the first few inches. They sure don't look strong through the scope and the pitting goes 1/2+ the length of the barrel. I still believe it will shoot ok with jacketed bullets. It's just a chance you take and a choice you make with old firearms. I thought about trying valve lapping compound. It surely couldn't make the bore worse.

And, gas checked, cast bullets aren't out of the realm of possibility.
