Picked up the drilling yesterday afternoon. It has NOT been restored, however. The shotgun bores have been lightly honed, not enough to remove the choke from the left barrel and, the rifle barrel is not excellent. It has slight pitting and will require jacketed bullets rather than cast, doggone it. Still, it isn't bad considering the corrosive priming it was subjected to. Chamber cast confirmed 9.3 X 72R. Barrel slugged at .358-.359, not uncommon for a 9.3 X 72R proofed in December of 1924. I have a surfeit of 200 gr., .358 bullets and have the ability to swage bullets of that diameter if so desired. The exterior is as good as the pictures if not better. The horn trigger guard repairs seem to be quite solid. I didn't see any marks/stamps that would indicate the actual maker or the barrel kniiter but, I'll be going over it with a fine tooth comb today. I'll be keeping it! |
