I am in complete agreement with .500 NItro on this re-barrel. ; A friend of mine just did the reverse- going from .375H&H to .17AckleyHornet for his wife's gopher shooting. : A flanged .375 would be so - "RIGHT" for the Ruger#1. : I recently made up a .375/'06 ICL IMP on a MK10 Mauser which gets slightly better ballistics than the .375 flanged data in Barnes book, and actually does 2,470fps. with 300gr. Hornady's soft and solid. : These loads ware with "Extreme" powders & were developed in the heat (such as it was) of June, this year. ; Although definitely not needed in B.C. for moose or big bear, it is comforting to have the power & certianly flat shooting enough for 300 to 350yds. shots, especially with Barnes "X" or failsafe bullets. : The belted .375H&H, or 9.3X62mm or 9.3X64mm would make nice rounds, but the flanged magnum would be "SPECIAL". |
