In a discussion some time ago I asked, "What does the double rifle man use in mountains?" And Mickey answered " A single shot." The article claims a Kipplauf must be short. I disagree, subject to our German PhDs in German gun knowledge agreeing or disagreeing. A Kipplauf may be shorter as it does not have an action so a standard barrel rifle is shorter overall. Or a longer barrel can be more easily accomodated. I would love to have a European cartridge of "magnum" dimensions in a medium calibre with a 650 mm length barrel in a lighter weight Kipplauf for mountain hunting. A 7mm SEvH or a 6.5x68 or a 8x68S. Or all three! As I see Fanjog now also makes multi barrel Kipplaufs. |
