Ive been talking about this for a while, now Ive finally assembled the parts. I started with a Paradox lust (and I still have that). That morphed into a what can I do with brass shells and I finally reached for the Encore as a testing platform. My 12ga rifled barrel arrived yesterday. Its the blued 24" version with rifled sights. Im sure the as issued sights are fine for some folks; but I just cant find any love for them in a classic sense. Yeah I know the Encore isnt exactly a "classic" 19th century image. Im planning to install a two leaf express type rear sight and a gold line front post. I toyed with something like a folding front sight with a mammoth ivory "nite" site. That may still come; but for now I just want the basics. Im gonna load round ball and conicals in full brass. shells. Ive got a couple different types (Magtech, Parker, and RMC). I purchased a crimp tool that puts a "star" crimp over the edge to hole the "bullet" but also leave it exposed. I also purchased Paradox loads from Holland & Holland that are plastic but have the "slug" extended from the case. Aria Ballistics also loads +P loads of round ball and conicals (in both plastic and brass shells). Once I get the sights installed Ill be testing the different loads. |
