How Light Can They Be?

Hello Folks,

I started a thread parallel to this one in the double rifle forum, I'm thinking of selling many of my nice rifles to fund the purchase of one really nice rifle. One of my top criteria is weight; I would like the new rifle to weigh five pounds, to which I will add a six ounce Leupold 2.5x Ultralight scope.

Most of my rifles are single shots, and weigh seven to nine pounds, with most coming in right around eight pounds. In order to achieve the lower weight, I'm going to limit the cartridge choice to not more than 7x57R, and would be satisfied with the 7-30 Waters. The game is "meat" hogs, wild pigs in the 150 - 200 pound range. I do enjoy wild pork.

What I would like to accomplish with this thread is to identify candidate rifles and makers. I'm familiar with Blaser and Merkel (although I've never actually examined one). I know of no others that fit the bill.

Thank you for your help.

Tom
