burgsmüller was a mail order house, making some guns but most stuff was bought in suhl/zella mehlis.
this scaled down M 71 actions were very common around 1900. the old catalogs are full with this rifle's for any cartridge you want from 6mm Flobert up to 9,3x72R or 12ga target rifle, any size, any configuration.
why? the design was old but the people know it, like it, it was free( no patent). anyone can make it then
