I originally was thinking about a 30/40 Krag or 30/40 Improved since my oldest daughter has liberated my Savage 99 in 308 Win. But lately I have been thinking of having an octagon barrel installed with a sight rib and a QD scope mount/rings setup. May be cost prohibitive but am going to look into it. Since Doug Turnbull and I grew up and still live in the same town I will have him case color the receiver at the very least. The only item is to come up with a caliber to use from Deer/Black Bear up to Elk/Moose. The 375 H&H may get the nod but still researching that. Can anyone here tell me how it works on Whitetail/Mule Deer size game and what bullet there using? The only reason I haven't gone with a 405 Win is lack of trajectary for shots on game like Caribou. All and all I don't really need to get much more than 250 yards out of the cartridge as the stalking makes the hunt for me. All your comments are greatly appreciated....RW
