When I had the auction on the phone, the man told me that there were no British proofs on the barrel. I thought that odd as H&H wasn't a stranger to the 22 Savage HiPower so I am not sure if H&H did the rebarrel or if it was done in the US (or if it was originally chambered in 22HP for that matter). Still, good to see it go for real money so maybe the market on single shots is picking up again. I passed on another a few weeks ago on GunBroker that had been rebored to 444 Marlin - a known gun too - thinking I had a shot at this 22HP. Didn't work out obviously and the 444 sold for $4500 which I guess was a decent price for the buyer. Ultimately, it sold for about the same (less with commission) as it did at Holt's auction back in 2009 (iirc). It did have some issues though. The best one I have seen lately sold a couple months ago by a Cabela's. It was a 303 and very nice. Went for about $9 or 10K. ![]() |
