Personally I can only comment on my own K95 with .25-06Rem. Never used it on boar, but guess with a substantial bullet & correct placement it would do just fine. I have shot many reds both sexes, sika, fallow, roe, chinese water deer, muntjac, fox & feral goat. Only ever had one slight failure on a big red stag last October in the rut. Right on dark when he appeared, took the shot, muzzle flash blinded me & I never saw what happened. Searched for six hours with friend and didn't find any trace of anything, so presumed I must have somehow missed. Around six weeks later the carcass was found around six hundred yard away at the opposite far edge of a tree line. One antler broken both chewed. The bullet had taken a crossing path from left hand front shoulder exiting rib cage. There was nothing left of internal organs to determine what damage had been done to them. All eaten by fox/crows/etc. etc. The bullet was a 100gn Sierra prohunter. I have no idea why/how the stag ran so far, but guess the bullet either just wasn't man enough or the shot placement wasn't quite right.. Should have used the Nosler 110gn AB but I'd forgotten to bring them on the trip. |
