Brockway Side by Side Combination Rifle-Shotgun Description: This combination gun is marked "C.BROCKWAY BROCKPORT, PA." on the top of the .32 caliber rifle barrel and the same, but in two lines, on each of the back action lock plates. The shotgun barrel is choked 16 gauge full with a 2 1/2 inch chamber and is unmarked. It has light scrolling vine engraving on the lock plates and upper tang and uses a lever operated break action with ejector. It has blade front and adjustable sporting rear sights, double set triggers, and a smooth, varnished maple forend and checkered semi-pistol grip stock with a curved, slightly spurred, buttplate. The length of pull is approximately 12 3/4 inches. Chauncey Brockway Jr. of Brockport, Pennsylvania, was born in 1823 and was a gunsmith before and after his service in the Union Army. Condition: About good. The barrels have a mottled brown patina with traces of the original finish. The remaining components have a mixture of partially bright surfaces and brown patina. There are some scrapes and marks throughout including a strike mark on the left barrel and some spots of pitting. The wood is very good with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine with mostly clear markings. |
