Those are terrific. I have a Model 71 carbine, 20" bl. 20" twist. I had to put a front sight on it and I see the stock's been shortened, but it's still a 71 and it shoots quite well in it's new .450 Alaskan (BP loads and Equiv.)chambering due to it's factory .457 groove diameter. At that time, .43 Mauser brass was not available to me (I thought) and the chamber would only allow the brass I made to hold a .446" bullet - which was just silly in a .457" groove diameter barrel (.437" bore). Thus, I bought a .450 Alaskan reamer and re-chambered it. |
