dave,I'm late to the thread but i have one of the 45-70's converted to 450 3 1/4" Nitro, fun gun and does well with the heavy lead 525's and 550's but thats at the old black powder loadings, full tilt booige loads/nitro are not for the recoil shy, the gun is just to damn lite.
