I have some limited use of the Ruger #1 in 405 on whitetail . I hand-loaded the 405 up 3700 or so foot pounds KE ( the factory loads seem around 3000 - 3100 foot pounds ) . No problem with pressure in the Ruger , but definitely overkill for whitetail . With the Woodleigh or Barnes TSX , it would handle about any North American game . Do not keep any of those rounds if you pass the Ruger onto someone else . Jim
