Thanks for the replies guys. The bullet I was considering is the Woodleigh. I've read reports of the the Hornady bullet being quite soft and is best suited to deer size game. I hadnt considered the TSX but Im sure that would be a phenomenal penetrator and then there are the bullets from Cutting Edge and North Fork, which Ive recently learnt about. So there are a number of premium grade bullets out there in the 300gr weight range. I think thats the key when using a bullet with low sectional density is to retain as much weight as possible to keep the momentum values up. It'll be interesting to experiment anyhow!!
What do you think the range limitations would be with a 300gr bullet at about 2200-2300fps, using a low power variable scope like the Leupold 1.5-5x?
