A #1 in .405 will do about 2,400fps, mabe a bit more, with a 300gr. At that speed, the original .405Win.-type bullet might be too soft.

The .450/400 will do a LOT more, speed wise, but of course as with any round, it's recoil depends on how it's loaded.

The .405 would be pleasant to shoot in comparrison to a .458 Win, or .458Lott imho.
