BSA Martini 22 Hornet for custom project

I have never had anything to do with Martinis of any sort. I am thinking of getting a BSA Martini 22 Hornet to turn into a .12 cal hornet based wildcat. Are the Martinis suitable for rebarreling/custom projects? Are they easy to get a scope mount to fit?
